Hi,
I had posted this question on your website and you asked me to post it here. So here goes....

I have installed the matterdaddy marketplace classified ads on my website, but I am having problems getting it integrated. I have tried two different things and neither one is working satisfactorily.

The first way was to install it using iframes. However, when I did that, the confirm posting window always opens in a new, blank window. Then the user has to physically navigate back to my site...not at all what I want them to have to do.

The second thing I tried was to incorporate my page design into the matterdaddy scripts. However, with this approach I am running into header issues. My site design is done with all of my formatting in a CSS file and my navigation and headers and footers are all contained in php headers and footers so that my page files only contain the page content.

Here are the links to the various ways I have tried. The first one is using iframes
http://www.dans-place.net/wanted-ads.php

This one is incorporating my headers and footers into the matterdaddy scripts.
http://www.dans-place.net/market/index.php

I know that you won't be able to help me much without seeing my code, but there is a ton of it and I don't know exactly what to include here. Please advise me as to the best way to get these scripts integrated into my site.

Thanks,
Debbie

This website was just built by a friend of mine for his Dungeons and Dragons, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi games/boardgames. I believe he also sells miniatures and pocket models.

I don't think it's quite yet finished - but he wants to hear some input on the design and layout. What are your thoughts? What's your first impression when you visit the site - and is the navigation easy to use and follow?

My own input will be added to this thread after some others have commented.

Another Google Inc. executive is leaving the Internet search giant for social networking start-up Facebook Inc.

Facebook on Tuesday confirmed that Ethan Beard, the former director of social media at Google, will join the privately held company as director of business development. Mr. Beard is the second high-profile executive this month to leave Google, a company that was widely considered one of the best places to work in Silicon Valley.

Someone recently asked me how to start a web page and view it on the computer. Just use the following code - and check out my explanations further down the post.

Add the title of your webpage here

This is where all of the code will go that the VIEWER will see.

As you can see - to start an HTML web page, it's pretty simple actually. You need the
tags showing the browser that this is html they are dealing with, and then the BODY and HEAD tags. Everything in the

area is NOT seen by the viewers. Everything in the

area IS seen by the end viewer.

When you save this bit of code (using Notepad to type it out), save it as index.html

Then you can right click on the file and open with your favorite browser. Whoila! Your first web page! Play around with this code a little bit - and once you start to understand how to start a page, come back and ask more questions!

*Please note that just by making your web page - it doesn't mean its online yet! You are only viewing your web page locally on your computer.

A beginner PHP coder was asking me the other day what code to use to start and end a PHP script. Use the following:

<?php code goes here ?>

I would get in the habit of starting your code with <?php instead of <? now - as it will become easier to integrate with different scripts, other people's coding, and if there are certain settings on your site that don't allow short tags.
