What’s in a name, after all? Your target readers couldn’t care less if you were called John or Paul or Matthew or Helen.

But the name of your blog does have an influence on them.

In fact, the name of your blog could help popularize it and generate more traffic.

So, it is crucial to choose the right name for your blog.

Choose a name that is easy to remember

Your readers should be able to remember the name of your blog easily so that they can log in and read whenever they have time.

Moreover, since your readers might not use the same device to access your blog, the name might not be stored in the browser history.

So, a name that remains on the tip of readers’ mind works best.

It also makes is easier for readers to tell their friends about your blog.

Choose a relevant name

Choosing a relevant name could be a lot of trouble, especially since millions of names have already been taken.

However, check out different combinations or make up a name that reflects the content that your blog offers.

While conventional names might be difficult to get, creatively made up names are usually easier to find.

Name generation tools can help you out with this.

Keep the spelling simple

The name of your blog should be easy to spell, in addition to being easy to remember.

If a reader wants to type in the name to search for your blog, he should be able to get it bang on.

Do not choose a blog name with a tongue twister of a spelling.

Choose a keyword that describes your blog

Using a descriptive keyword for a blog name has its benefits.

One of the benefits is that readers know exactly what your site deals with.

For example, if you have a blog that teaches DIY craft making, you could call the blog something like www.makeyourcraft.com.

Remember, almost four-fifths of your target audience arrives at your blog through search engines.

So, when they see a name that is so clear in its description of what lies within its pages, chances are high that they choose your blog over other similar ones.

Take feedback

Decide on a few names and discuss about them with friends and family.

Analyse the kind of response you get. If your blog is meant for a particular age group or gender, collect feedback from people of that community.

After all, the blog name is meant for the benefit of your prospective readers.

So, choose a name that receives the most positive feedback.

A name can change the way your blog performs.

So, do not ignore it.
