I'm inspired by @Macklemore & @RyanLewis

A few weeks ago someone showed my Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ song, Same Love, on YouTube.

I sobbed, and sobbed. Like a baby.
An inspired, heart-warmed baby.

For the first time in a long while, I felt like the world was finally headed in a peaceful direction. I felt peace in my heart. I felt loved. As a gay individual, I felt like others of influence in the world really, truly, deeply care. And not that so many of you don’t support me.

I just felt like change…was in the air.

And Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are continually proving to us that indeed, change is in the air.

Not only for the gay community, but for the music industry too.

In 2011 I actually had the privilege of watching Macklemore and Ryan Lewis perform live in San Francisco at Outside Lands. Raw energy. Those are the only words I have to describer their brilliance. The crowd was speechless. Powerful. Changed. This power is obviously why they’ve both found so much success recently.

And they’re doing it all without the help of a major record label.

I’ve written this blog post not just for you, but for me.

I write this blog post to remember.

To remember how inspired I am by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

As an individual who has found incredible success as an influential blogger, I want to forever remember to push the limits and give thanks. I’ve put out my first single, and because of all your help, support, and love the remix is already being played in clubs along the coast of California. Everywhere!

I want to remember to fight for those who don’t have a voice.
I want to remember to sing for those who don’t have a song.
I want to remember to live for those who have had a life taken too soon.
I want to remember to give to those who are less fortunate than myself.

And someday, with enough hard work, I’ll share this message on the same stage as Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
Together, inspiring the world.

My hat is off to the both of you.
