A day begun well is often spent well.
Although this is no adage, all will agree to the truth of this statement.
Just as getting off to the right start is most important to spearhead any activity, the beginning to the day can be a crucial element to get the most out of it.
Take care of the following points to see how to start your day off right, how your focus is improved and how you manage time more efficiently.
Don’t spring to action the moment you open your eyes; allow your mind to wake up first.
Take stock of the day, the work you have at hand and give some time to the brain to start functioning.
Take your mind back to the previous day and delve on a pleasurable memory – this will make you feel happy. You can also recall two acts of kindness shown to you by others, which will spread warmth through your heart.
Conversely, forget those unhappy moments and spats with your colleagues the previous day.
Gathering and storing unhappy memories can be toxic for your mind.
Read something inspirational or motivational with your morning cup of tea or coffee.
If music is your preferred art form, then listen to a piece that soothes the mind and body. You can also go about your daily chores with your music on.
Stretch your body like a cat and allow it to wake up, too, after the long immobile hours of sleep. Then try a few stretching exercises to release your muscles from their stupor. You can also go for a long morning walk and breathe in the morning air to infuse new life into your system.
Do a few breathing exercises, inhale and exhale deeply. This will fill your lungs with fresh oxygen.
Enjoy the morning shower; this will not only purify your body but also refresh your soul. Use warm water and cleansers, with your favorite aroma, and see how they lift your spirits.
Breakfast is an essential component of a healthy beginning.
Eat well and eat healthy.
Skipping breakfast or having heavy, junk food is injurious for your body and mind.
Eat fresh food rich in fibers, low-fat protein and fruits to invigorate and revitalize your system.
Before going to sleep the previous night, you can fill your room with fragrances and flowers of your choice.
When you wake up to them, there is an instant positive message that your mind sends out to the rest of the body.
As a vocalist I also sleep with a cool-mist humidifier on all night, which helps my voice be prepared and ready for the day’s vocal exercises, lessons, and performances. The slight sound of the humidifier at night is also very soothing.
Plan the day ahead
Now that you have gained control over your mind and body, plan all the work you need to do.
Divide your day up into slots and fit each task into their respective spot.
A clean and clutter-free time table helps you take on any work with confidence.
Now that your vision is clear, you know what to do every morning to boost the day.
Face the day’s work at the very beginning of the day itself.
