Writing is perhaps the second oldest art form in the world, after cave paintings.
Surprisingly, writing can sometimes get so inconceivably boring that it makes us think how the professional writers actually manage to find the motivation to write.
Writing is something you enjoy, something you love, and that is precisely why without attraction to writing itself, it is very difficult to come up with good output every time.
But in order to get your creative juices flowing, here are a few basic steps that you may follow.
Travel
Traveling to exotic places will open your mind to new fresh ideas that will make your brain ooze out the creativity and charge you with ideas and the urge to pen them down. Travelling has been widely considered as the greatest motivator.
Not only will you meet new people, new places and new ideas, the adventure you will have will be enough fodder for your new book or write up.
If you are up for it, get off the beaten track, go places nobody has gone before, stay in un-starred hotels, sample the local cuisine and have fun while doing it.
Go for a walk
If a lengthy trip is not your cup of tea, a small walk to freshen the mood might just be what the doctor ordered.
No need for a fancy car – keep your cellphone at home, take a bicycle, go to a nearby lake and perhaps watch the sunset, or simply sit on a bench and look at nature at her best.
You will soon feel fit and ready for another fight with the pen.
Take a powernap
Odysseys have been written about an eight minute powernap. It is said to be as effective as a long nap and can instantly recharge your body again for a nice power up. There are numerous questions though. It’s not as if we fall asleep as soon as we hit the mattress, how do we keep track of the eight minutes of sleep exactly? How can we start the timer after we have fallen asleep?
Well, the point is, take a small nap. It will help.
Soft music
While psychedelic rock and heavy metal may actually render your thoughts crazier, classical or soft music may ultimately help you concentrate further on your thoughts.
Sit back on your couch, turn down the lights, and close your eyes to some soft numbers. We will be back in business.
Alcohol
Many famous writers swore on Absinthe, including Oscar Wilde.
The magical liquid was told to open the inner eyes and let one’s thoughts go wild. Then again, too much of it could make you blind. We can stay safe and go for a safer alternative, which can depend on your taste. Be light on the booze, do not over intoxicate yourself; a simple light headed trance is what we are looking to achieve. Believe it or not, it can be one of the best in terms of motivation.
Motivations will vary from person to person, but unless you have that inner urge to write, there are loads of doubts as far as the productivity and end results of your efforts are concerned.
To be a good writer, you must want to be a good writer, and at the end of the day, that is the only motivation one needs.

"You’re such a smart boy!" were his first accolades heard. So, it’s no wonder that this phrase became the title of his business, Smart Boy Designs.
