Why Do You Blog: Part 6

in Blogging

I wish I could dedicate an entire post to each blogger featured here. Their information is both informative and inspiring; and all in some way motivate me to be a better blogger. I’m grateful for all they’ve decided to share.

Remember, each blogger has something unique and special to share. Listen.

If you’ve missed any other portion of the series, you’ll find links below.

Hold on folks…you’re in for a huge treat with this bunch of bloggers!

ionnovator Why Do You Blog: Part 6Steven Lowe of Innovator LLC

Bluntly, I blog to efficiently share information with clients, potential clients, and peers. Well-informed clients are happier clients!

To put a human face on the (growing) company, and improve search-engine rankings for strategic keywords, such as “consulting” and “custom software development”

adrienne smith Why Do You Blog: Part 6Adrienne Smith of AdrienneSmith.net

I began my blogging journey with a lot of uneasiness. I was new to the online industry so I didn’t feel that I had anything to share.

Because of the training I was receiving at the time, we were taught that a blog was important so that you could brand yourself as an expert in a particular area. The only problem I had with that was I wasn’t an expert in anything.

As time went by and I failed miserably over and over again, I changed directions a few times. Still along the way I kept studying personal development, internet marketing and affiliate marketing. So I just continued sharing what I was learning. I eventually realized that I was actually helping people learn too because they were a lot like me. They ventured into this arena not knowing anything and a lot of this being way over their heads.

I continue to blog because I continue to learn. I enjoy sharing that through my posts and along the way I’ve built up some wonderful relationships. This is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. I enjoy encouraging others that if I can do this so can they.

lance ekum Why Do You Blog: Part 6Lance Ekum of The Jungle of Life

I began blogging as a way to take the thoughts in my head (and heart) and give them a voice.  And in giving them a voice, I more fully understand myself and the world around me.

Even more, though, it also creates a platform for me to connect with people who can benefit from the expertise that I have – a platform that is a two-way street of learning and growth.

jen berget Why Do You Blog: Part 6Jens P. Berget of slymarketing

I started out blogging as a learning process. I was fairly new to marketing, and espcially online marketing. I felt the need to go online and experiment, and share the thoughts about what I was learning. I am still doing this, but lately, the reason I blog is more a way to connect with people and learn from people (via their comments, and their feedback) instead of me just sharing things I’ve read in various books and on other blogs. I blog because I want to learn and keep learning. I learn a lot from being an active blogger, things become so much clearer when I write, and especially from the response I get from people reading what I write.

tanya wineland Why Do You Blog: Part 6Tanya Wineland of Uncover God

What I cherish most about life is experience. I find great value and insight in sharing my experiences with others and learning of theirs. I look at blogging as a way to just that.

On a deeper level, I blog because I have great music inside me and writing is how I free it. I want to share, I desire to serve. I feel called to community. I hope others will be inspired by my passion, strength, and courage. This is how I can feed the world. It just makes sense to me.

I love the Thoreau quote from Dead Poets Society…”I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately, I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, To put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die Discover that I had not lived.”

barry wells Why Do You Blog: Part 6Barry Wells of Barry-Wells.com

To be honest I started my blog as part of an online marketing course I was taking part in. It wasn’t until a few months later that I realised just how powerful blogging really is. Blogging has enabled me to:

  • Build online relationships with like minded people, where we help each other overcome any hurdles that we may come across. This is a major factor for me as these relationships have helped me with situations both on and off line, for which I am extremely grateful.
  • Increase my knowledge by finding a wealth of information on other blogs I have been able to save time and money whilst learning new tricks and applying them to my business.
  • Increase my traffic by blog hopping and leaving decent comments on the blogs I visit I am able to generate FREE traffic to my blog.
  • Build my confidence by seeing how others have overcome similar issues they have motivated me to follow suit and as a result my confidence has grown, so much so that I now create video tutorials for my blog readers and subscribers.
  • Inspire people just as I have been inspired by other people online, I like to pass it on to my blog readers and inspire them to take action on their dreams.

If I had to start all over again the very first thing I would is get a blog online, the benefits are endless and the rewards are never far away.

eugene farber Why Do You Blog: Part 6Eugene Farber of Reality Burst

I guess the default reason to have a blog is to share your thoughts. I also do it to share my journey. I think it will be really interesting to look back in a few years and see what was going on in my head.

But even more importantly, I blog to connect with people. People that I wouldn’t have the opportunity to connect with otherwise. People that I can learn from. People that motivate me.

Blogging has given me exposure to people with a different thought process than I was exposed to before. It has definitely played a huge part in me deciding to quit my job and pursuing a less-than-standard way of life.

kristi hines Why Do You Blog: Part 6Kristi Hines of Kikolani

I originally began blogging just to share some creative writing and photography online.  After a few months of blogging, I started becoming more and more interested with the actual blogging process, from working with WordPress to blog promotion through search and social marketing.  From that point, my blog evolved.  I enjoy blogging mostly because I love sharing the new things I learn and strategies I find successful with others in the hopes that they too can grow their blogging!  There’s nothing more rewarding than getting emails or comments saying that they accomplished a major milestone or goal thanks to tips they read on my site!

At the same time, it’s not all just a hobby for me either.  I do hope to one day make a living off of my blogging by offering services and developing eBooks and other valuable resources for bloggers.  My goal will be to earn a solid income while still helping out everyone I can in some way!

vunty Why Do You Blog: Part 6Sean G. of Vunty

First off, I thank Christian for asking this question. In accord with my curious nature, I often find myself asking the question, “Why?” “Why am I here? Why is there something as opposed to nothing?” The answers aren’t always simple. But when I ask myself why I write for my personal development blog, Vunty, I realize that my purpose is to connect and influence.

My desire is to make a positive impact by sharing my experiences and findings. If my blogging helps even one person come to a realization, achieve a goal or feel more joy in their life, I can rest assured that my purpose in blogging has been fulfilled. I am confident that the exchange process will be mutually beneficial; those whom I connect with will also shape me as a person. Their experiences and thoughts will influence my thoughts and consequently, my actions. Blogging is a big learning experience. It begins on the personal level as I reflect on my experiences, and grows to the interpersonal as I connect and share those reflections.

Hey Christian,

Another great roundup here. Sharing, connecting, teaching, learning. “People” seem to be the common thread in most answers. I’m honored to be in this post with some bloggers I regularly visit. And there’s a few new names here I’ll have to go check out too!

Bloggers all seem to have this general sense of “care” and love for teaching/learning – and I’m just so grateful for all I learn from each blogger every day. It’s like gathering to hang with your best friends!

So grateful to have your support here on the blog, Lance. Appreciate you taking the time to send in your thoughts.

I think it’s most interesting to see how similar we all really are. We’re sharing because we have a passion for something, and connecting is the way to get that message out into the public.

Another great group, Christian!

I especially liked Kristi’s comments. While my focus has been somewhat different, and my fortes too, my process has evolved much like hers. And is still.

Sharing seems to be the common thread. :)

Love seeing how blogger’s reasons for blogging evolve and change. It’s such a fluid form of art. Something that changes, tweaks & becomes more beautiful with age.

Thank you for sharing Keri.

Hi Christian,

Kudos to you for putting this blog article together. It’s great to see and read about other bloggers and how they all started. Very inspiring! I think for new bloggers out there, this is such wonderful information for them to see — that one doesn’t necessarily have to be an expert at anything before they can blog. As with anything, LIFE, is about a learning experience. When we write about it makes it that much more enjoyable and pleasurable. Thanks for sharing! Keep writing. I love reading your blog! See you at Triberr.

Thank you for your courageous, inspiring post Jocelyn. You fire me up and make me want to strive to be a much better blogger. I appreciate it all in so many ways!

It’s great to see bloggers come together to support a good cause, share their thoughts & feelings, and really reach out to help other bloggers. It all works well when we’re putting others first.

Hi Christian, first off thanks for including me in your question of why people blog.

It’s really intersting to see the many reasons that people have for blogging. I now find it addictive as the knowledge gained can be out standing, not to mention the relationships we make along the way.

Like I said in my reply these relationships have helped me both online and off. That was when I realised that I’m closer to some bloggers than some of my off line friends.

I’ll be sure to check out the others listed Christian, thanks again mate.

It almost feels like before blogging, the level of learning and knowledge we received was on a more “limited” level in life, especially if we weren’t in school. Great to see that through blogging, we’re upping the amount we learn – each and every day.
