Like.
An important word. Now even more important due to the power of friends within social media.
Today organizations, people, products and businesses attain their status based on their level of likability. If you’re likable, you’re salable.
Humans like many of the same things. We all have needs.
Following you’ll find a few things people like…
- Things that are beautiful.
- Statuses.
- Inspiring stories.
- Pictures.
- Awe inspiring views.
- Celebrities.
- Things liked by other friends.
- Things that make them feel cozy and loved.
- Animals to be snuggled.
- Being considered famous or an expert in their respective sphere.
- To be loved.
- A sense of peace.
- Big homes & warm cabins.
- Places of belonging.
- A tall glass of milk at midnight.
- Money to fill their pockets.
- Opportunities to be heard and needed
- Good food. For thought too.
- Things that make them reach for the stars.
- People to help when they’ve fallen.
- A sense of accomplishment.
- Moving music.
- Laughter.
- Positivity.
I gathered these “things” people like for the purpose of generating inspiration, creativity & growth in whomever might take the time to read this post. The list isn’t long – but just enough to spark a thought. A thought that just might lead to genius for you.
By identifying what people like you’ll quickly find paths into untapped markets, ideas for blog posts & new products that are just waiting to be developed. The best products are produced to fulfill an unmet need.
Tell me. What do people like? What do you like?
By identifying what people like – you’ll quickly find needs that need meeting.

I for one have always liked music. Music is something that deeply touches my soul. I love it. Nothing moves me more. Even the written word doesn’t move me as much (or as often) as music does. I don’t know why I have that strong connection to music; but I do.
For that reason – I’m always in full support of something that might allow me to explore my musical creativity, or the musical creativity of others.
so true
especially the things liked by other friends
people sometimes like things because others like them
thank you for the post

So true Farouk! That was one area I wanted to put more emphasis on, but surely wanted others to come to know that for themselves as well. You obviously understand that part of human psychology well!
As always, thanks for stopping by Farouk!

I like science fiction. I like fantasy. I like to have my concept of reality challenged in a non-preachy way.
Conversations that run well into the small hours.
Quiet bars.
Europe.

Those are some great things to like. I like conversations that run well into the small hours too. A time to open up.
I believe the word ‘like’ is very much overused and also not very descriptive, i don’t like using it in that context

Certainly overused, but important nonetheless. I think the word “like” is easily transferable with words like enjoy, love, admire, appreciate, etc….because it encapsulates some of those feelings within. We all “like” things for different reasons. And some, just for the sake of liking even.
I like this post.

And I like you.
Thank you for sharing this! It’s so hard to narrow it down to one good idea to start a blog – you want to write something that is personally satisfying but gets traffic so that you can keep writing. I love your suggestions, they’re a great place to start!

It sure is hard sometimes. I think that’s one of the big mistakes so many people make. Choosing the wrong thing to write about! And I think first – you’ve got to like the blog topic YOURSELF!
Love this post and have it bookmarked so that I can come back to it for inspiration for my next pieces.
I like to travel and I like to read inspiring stories.

Traveling sure gives you a whole SLEW of stories and things to write about. Your stories must be endless for your blog. It’s awesome, Julia.
Thanks for stopping by too!
Hi Christian,
I like your list!
I would add this: Learning something new every single day. Today, while I was watching the news, I learned that there is a peanut based product called Plumpy’nut, which is manufactured here in the US. It is helping the famine victims by giving them a balance of calories and nutrition. Very cool. Learning new things rocks.

That’s very interesting Marianne! How wonderful. I’ve actually never heard of Plumpy’nut. Might even look it up based on your recommendation.
I sure love learning new things. I think that’s why I love “How It’s Made” so much too!
Christian,
Everything you have listed here I categorize as branding.
This is probably the most important part of marketing…products aside, of course.
Great list. Definitely some items to think about in there…:)

Branding. Love it! Just think of the “multiplication” effect brands have when they’re “liked” by your friends. That association causes an emotional “trigger” in your mind – releasing that powerful mix of marketing.
Wow! I like every single thing on that list, Christian! It just goes to show how connected we all are as humans. There are things that speak to all of us in the same way.
I’ve been toying with a new blog idea, so this post is really pertinent for me. I’m working with an idea that I know people like but that they don’t necessarily take action on. This is based on info that a Triberr mate shared with me after she had done a similar type of blog. I wonder why there’s that difference. Maybe it’s the degree that people like things?
As for me, apart from those on your list, I also like doing “nothing” — these are the moments that I find myself filled with creativity. =)
I so hope you post some videos of your music one day! =)

The importance of doing nothing. Love that Samantha. Thanks for sharing. SO EXCITED to hear and see your new blogging venture. I’ll surely be supporting you the whole way!
I’m a failure, aren’t I? I haven’t posted any singing videos yet. Everyone thinks at the moment that it’s just some “claim.” But really – I can sing, I promise!
Haha! Hardly a failure, but I hope it motivates you to get some videos together! =)
And thank you soo much for your enthusiasm about my potential project! =)

Hi Christian,
I like that picture.
I like the smell of freshly mown lawn.
And yes, music moves the soul – makes you want to sing, dance, cry, laugh, relax, remember.
Great post Christian, thanks for sharing

Pretty inspiring list Christian. There are many things that people like and I think what people liked the most are the things that will solve their problems.

True thoughts Walter. People like “things” that solve their problems. I think that’s what the best products involve. A product that solves the problems of the general public. That’s when you know you’ll be making a huge profit.
I like something that will make me laugh. There’s so much negative out there, coming across something that brings a smile to my face is always a good thing. I really like to share either helpful links or just interesting ones, to me, on my FB fan page. But, it always seems to be the photos that draw people in.

Photos and laughter. What a perfect combination Jen. Love them both mightily too. I wonder what draws us into photos so much.
Really worthwhile read here Christian. At first my blog was just an unorganized scramble of ideas. Now it has developed into some more organized and interesting stories. But more importantly is the path it’s heading down. And that is one guided by what people really enjoy.
Really, really valuable list here Christian – thanks for sharing! These ideas will certainly not go to waste!

So good to hear Andy. Music. Aaah, a beautiful word. Just love it! I’ve been listening to Awolnation a lot lately. Working on composing a piano arrangement to go along with John Denver’s “Annie’s Song” right now. I think it’s a beautiful song!
People like to be noticed. Show them you know they’re there, talk to them, make them feel important. They’ll be back tomorrow, guaranteed.
