My Top 10 Commenters

by Christian Hollingsworth on August 19, 2011

in Random

On occasion I’ve decided to feature my top 10 commenters.

On each page here on the blog you’ll notice a little “Top Commenters” box on the footer. There you’ll see the avatars of those who are most involved in the discussions going on after each blog post via comments. If you’re looking for exposure and traffic for your own blog, it’s a great way to get noticed.

So, on this random date I’m featuring the current top 10 commenters (as of August 17th).

1. Hugo Martins

This wonderful blogger is from Portugal, but speaks and writes in English fluently. I’m impressed with his skills and dedication to blogging and how he’s let it push him to become fluent in a secondary language. That’s some powerful blogging! Recently he even wrote a powerful guest post here at Smart Boy Designs talking about his commitment to blogging, and why he’s not stopping anytime soon.

Learn more about Hugo at his blog, Connected.

2. Stuart Mills

Stuart Mills, in my opinion, is a certifiable genius. On a regular basis he pumps out incredible pieces of content over at his blog – and they’re always on target, precise & thought-provoking. In my interactions with Stuart I’ve only been fed. My mind. Soul. Everything that I am becomes a little bit better, when I read what he has to say. I’m very grateful for his support.

You can visit him online at Unlock the Door.

3. Laurinda Shaver

Have you ever had one of those special friends in your youth that will go down as one of the “greats” in your life? Almost like a friend pulled right out of the movie Stand By Me. Laurinda, to me, is one of those special friends. She’s always there to leave a witty comment, a special thought or a friendly virtual hug. I’m all smiles when Laurinda is around.

Please visit her blog here.

4. Oliver Tausend

With his lively accent and friendly demeanor, I’ve been very grateful to have become acquainted with Oliver. He’s always sharing his unique insights in a kind, bright way via videos and audio on his blog. One thing in particular I love about the way Oliver writes is that it’s unbiased. He takes everything into special and delivers powerful messages.

If you want to grow personally, visit him online here.

5. Yomar Lopez

Mr. Lopez. Yogizilla. The man with many names. I can’t quite remember how we connected, but Yomar is a true friend through and through. I’m often amazed how much interaction you’re able to have with those that you really care about online through social media. That’s where it’s powerful. And that’s exactly what Yogizilla understands. Friends matter. Connections matter.

Do you want a friend? Visit Yogizilla’s Blankity Blank-Blank.

6. Antonio Coleman

There’s this one special individual who has a unique gift. The ability to foresee the future. His name is Antonio Coleman. It seems that every time I post a new blog post, within moments Antonio leaves a comment. It’s a token of support that I appreciate – because it means he cares. He cares enough to stop by, share a thought & move on. Thank you Antonio for pushing me along.

Antonio writes a blog which you can find here.

7. Is It Down

Although I don’t know the name behind “Is It Down,” I’m grateful for the support and thoughts they provide via comments. Recently they’ve begun commenting on many blog posts and jumping right on into the discussion involved. They show that whether you’re a business or individual, comments are for everyone!

You can visit the Is It Down service (which is awesome!) here.

8. Adrienne Smith

How do you go about describing someone within the capacities of one paragraph whom means so much to you? If I could use one word to describe Adrienne, it would be fighter. When you’ve got her on your side she’ll fight for you until the bitter end. Whether it’s tweeting your posts, sharing thoughts through comments or showing her support through other various means – she doesn’t back down. Thank you Adrienne.

Please visit Adrienne at her blog here.

9. Jens P. Berget

Oh Jens! This Norwegian man makes me smile. First of all, he runs a tremendous blog featuring information on small business marketing. Second being that he’s simply brilliant. He has the opportunity of directing the marketing programs for a college – so he has a slew of first-hand knowledge to backup his thoughts with. I’m so grateful that our paths have crossed and that we’ve been able to interact on a regular basis.

Check out his blog, slymarketing, right now!

10. SEO Los Angeles

This commenter is relatively new to routine commenting on the blog, but I’ve been grateful for her presence. She obviously comes from a strong background in marketing and SEO judging by the quality of comments left, so she’s always adding relevant and crucial information to whatever topic is at hand.

For SEO services in Los Angeles, check her out here.

Hey Christian,

Thanks for sharing your top guys and I’m so pleased to see my name in there. I guess I need to move myself up that list now because I don’t get by here as often as I would like. Good thing about us though is that I get to connect with you other places too!

You are such a very special young man and I am honored to know you. Thank God for the blogging community and for having the chance to stumble upon you. Knowing you gives me hope for our youth because I know you’ll charge the way and speak up for them all.

You are someone everyone needs to pay attention to and not just in the blogging community as well. You are so gifted in so many different areas. One day I want to hear you sing too. Oh I know, you can sing to me on our next Skype call! :-)

Thank you again Christian, I’m honored to be mentioned in this post. You enjoy the rest of your day and have another fun weekend.

So you’re requesting some sing-song during our next Skype session? I sure as heck might just have to!

You’ve pointed out some really fun parts of blogging Adrienne. What I love best is the symbiotic relationship that’s achieved. You post some, receive some feedback, get excited, and then you post some more with that energy you’ve received from others.

It just seems to feed your soul and keep you going.

Wow, I didn’t think I would be as high as 2nd, but then there’s the benefits of guest posting here ;-)

Thanks for the awesomely kind words Christian, you do me a great service. You’re a true and good man. I hope we stay in touch, and grow together, for many more months to come :-)

Exactly. Those who have taken the time to guest post have certainly fared well in the amount of comments they’ve inputted. It’s just easy, because you have something to discuss that you’ve written!

Adrienne posted a post about my nomination a few weeks back, and it received the most comments on her blog because we both tag-teamed commented on every person who started discussing with us. It was a blast!

Now this is a lovely gift for a Friday. I always dreamed of making it to a credible top 10 list and here I am! [soaking in the moment].

I would like to thank my #boaf team, chocolate and my bottle of scotch (or one of the many). :)

You are very kind Christian…. Thank you for including little ol me!

I believe that more important than my own mention here is reflecting about the ‘following’ you have.

What a great bunch of people you have here. I know for experience that Laurinda is very supportive whether you are new here or an old folk; Is It Down, although anonymous is curious enough to read and comment someones blog if he likes what he reads.

The other guys are people I have seen in several blogs and failed to connect with them (shame on me) but they seem to be amazing.

Thanks for all the opportunities you’ve presented me and for connecting in such way.

I just wish I had hours and hours of extra time to comment on every great blog I happen across. There are days when I dedicate my time to commenting – but sure wish I could do so more. You’re right, it’s hard when you fail to connect!

Hi Christian,

Wow, thanks a lot. I didn’t know that I was at the top 10 list. And the people I’m with, they’re just brilliant. I have been so busy today with my blog, not sure what’s happening, but it’s been down for close to 12 hours. I have been chatting live with the people at dreamhost and I am still waiting.. that’s the problem of blogging :)

Thanks again. It’s past midnight here, so I’ll better get to bed and I’m hoping that I won’t have any nightmares of my server being down for weeks :)

Have a great weekend.

Jens

I’ve run into all that mess. Down servers. For a blogger – it’s literally hell. Or anyone who owns a website. The feeling you get when your website is down is just plain awful.

Hope things get squared away. Certainly love your blog and want it to be up!

Always an honor to be mentioned amongst such a wonderful group of people. I’m already tweeps with most of you but, for those I may have missed in the midst of all my zeal and bouncing around, please add me:

@Yogizilla

http://plusya.com/yomar

And my promise to you is that I spend more time having fun and engaging than I ever do selling.. Sometimes to a fault.

As such, if you have stuff you need help promoting, let me know! Laurinda and I started an initiative called Support-A-Thon. It’s our little way of promoting each other and providing some social proof of how Inbound Marketing, SEO, Social Media, and engaging people makes all the difference.

If there is any way I can help you out, let me know. . feel free to pick my brain. If you need some extra exposure and want to expand your audience, this article may help you:

…Now we’re connected and I hope that I provided some helpful geeky stuffs today. =o]

Thank you so much for the plug!

You know, it’s always tough to share things as simple as links. People always worry it’s some ploy to sell them or self-promote.. but you know me: I share what I feel is truly valuable!

Of course, when we can balance helping others with making a living, that’s when things really take off. I believe you’re great at that, Christian, as are other folks here.

Anywho, I hope to see more of you on StumbleUpon. I think it’s a great way for little-known people to get discovered, regardless of what it is “you do”. Need more reasons? See what Mashable has to say…

http://mashable.com/2011/08/19/stumbleupon-social-traffic/

See, you don’t have to take my word for it. Ben says it’s the place to be, too. What’s great is that the smaller community actually makes it easier to minimize noise and find more engaging, receptive audiences.

What’s more is that the addition of the ExploreBox has made it easier to find relevant, significant content. This should excite my keyword-focused SEO and Inbound Marketing nuts!

Again, thank you for having me over, Christian.. The peach cobbler was delicious. Thanks for suggesting a potluck here, Hugo. ;o)

Awesome list. I know some but need to meet the others, because these folks are right up my alley.

Nothing like connecting through comments. It’s such an easy add to add value to a friend’s post while making a meaningful connection to.

Thanks for sharing this list with us.

When they’re all incredible- they should do pretty much be up everyone’s alley. They, combined, do well to bring a lot of joy and prosperity to many.

Comments are powerful. They really are. We just don’t use them with all their potential intact, I don’t believe. I myself, struggle to really tap into all the power that comments have to offer. Some days I get a little busy, and bam – all my time is gone to spend on extra commenting time.

When you set that time aside though, wow, you can grow very, very quickly.
