The Wink in Leeks: #11

by Christian Hollingsworth on August 8, 2011

in Random

When you read this I’ll be away from the computer.

Spending time at the ocean.

What do you love about the ocean? What does it drive you to accomplish? Have you had the opportunity to visit the ocean? If not, do you want to?

It’s been quite some time since I’ve put together a “Wink in Leeks.” For those of you who are wondering, the Wink in Leeks is just a dyslexic way of saying Week in Links. One day I was putting together my first link roundup, and for some reason it just came out as the Wink in Leeks when I was typing. The birth of a tradition.

Hopefully you enjoy these links. There’s a bunch of fun stuff mixed in with information. A bit of joy swooshed together with entertainment. That’s how life should be. Right? The good with the bad and everything in-between.

A little Chrome productivity.

Jason Yormark is always putting together a fancy bit of information via blog post. Recently he shared 5 Chrome extensions to boost your social media productivity. I recommend them all.

How do I send large files?

Often people ask me how to send large files online via email. There’s a great little tool that helps with the process. It’s called YouSendIt.

New Blogs On My Radar

I found a few new blogs during the past couple of weeks (these are just a few, in no order of importance) and I’m always amazed by the content produced by so many individuals on this planet. It’s just spectacular!

For The Potter Fans

Pottermore. It’s a special place for all things Harry Potter. Follow the adventure and join in on the fun.

A deal every day.

Woot is your place for a deal a day. Purchase quick as items go quickly. Just be sure you’re not taking MY deal. icon wink The Wink in Leeks: #11

The Geek in Me

Because of the geek in me, I love this clock. It represents time as a hexadecimal color value – which totally rocks!

Here you’ll find the Periodic Table of SEO Ranking Factors. It’s an intelligent way to learn about SEO in graphic format.

Another cool website I found this week was the International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP). Because I play piano and love music, this is a great way to find all those classical pieces. Pianists online – forward march!

Harry Potter is my guilty pleasure, I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of Pottermore yet! Thanks for sharing these… That clock is actually really cool, too :)

I hope you’re having a good time at the beach Christian. I live near Galveston which is by no means pretty. But hey, it’s the ocean right! I can pretty much bet though that you are somewhere really beautiful with deep blue water. Ours is just brown, yuck!

Thanks for sharing these blogs with us. Will put them on a list to check out soon. I have been to Bonny’s though, she participated in the NIche Amnesty Dino did recently so that was fun meeting her.

Talk to you when you get back.

The beach was great, Adrienne. Thanks for asking. It’s always good for me to “unplug” for a bit and let myself relax. The stress of social media, clients and writing blog posts can build up if you let it.

I’d still like to visit Galveston and see what it’s like. I’m sure it would be much different!

Excited to talk to you tomorrow.

‘The Sometimes Unspoken’ is one of newest favorite blog(s), right now. I found this randomly on some other site and the reason why I enjoy it is because it pulls at my heart. The layout is simple, the content isn’t thrown into many different bits.

Personally, out of the four, it is the easiest to read and the only one I can see myself returning to…

I hope you enjoy the beach!

Glad you enjoyed that one Jonathan. The wonderful part about blogs is that there’s always one that resonates well with others versus another style and blogger.

Some like it simple, some like glitz and glamor, and some are a little of both!
