Interview with Mitch Mitchell of I’m Just Sharing

in Interviews

Mitch Mitchell is an incredible blogger. He’s the blogger who promises never to be dull, deliver SEO and marketing advice & be honest in the process.

You can find his blog over at I’m Just Sharing. What I love about Mitch is his candid, honest way of writing. When visiting his blog I know it will be all Mitch – 100%.

Who do you look up to?

It’s kind of an odd question so I’m going to give kind of an odd answer; no one. There are some people I respect as far as blogging goes, but in an odd way I find it hard to say I look up to anyone I’m older than.

In what ways do you build traffic to your blog?

I work on building traffic in many ways.

Every blog post goes to Twitter from all four of my blogs. I also use some RSS coding to highlight at least one of my other blogs on each blog site. One of my blogs automatically posts to LinkedIn while another automatically posts to Facebook. Overall, my biggest traffic building comes from the blogging community, as I comment on a lot of blogs and build up a repertoire with many of them.

What are some of your passions?

Blogging is actually a passion of mine, along with writing in general. I love poker and playing chess as well. I also like watching certain movies over and over, along with certain TV shows that involve anything Trek or X-Files.

Why do you enjoy blogging?

As long as you’re honest and fair you build trust in people whether they agree with you or not.

Blogging is a great way to express yourself to others and see if your opinions matter to anyone else. It’s great when you make connections with others, and it’s interesting when you find some people who disagree with you. As long as you’re honest and fair you build trust in people whether they agree with you or not.

What do you wish you would have known sooner regarding internet marketing?

Goodness, there’s things I wish I knew even now! Overall, I wish I’d known sooner that just building a website and putting products on it doesn’t mean people will visit and/or buy. Many people are sold a bill of goods on that one, and it just doesn’t work that way. It’s called “marketing” for a reason.

What can a blogger do to be better?

I tend to think that most bloggers find reasons they can’t just write as much as they want to and thus end up beating themselves up to write posts. I average more than 5 posts a week and often go weeks writing a post a day. I always have something to say and something to write about and I think other people would if they viewed their lives as a story worth telling rather than not seeing themselves as something special. Everyone’s special; gotta believe that.

How do you find happiness?

Now that’s a good question.

Actually, I find most happiness in the simplest things.

Laughter really is great medicine; I hope everyone takes some many times a day.

I can enjoy seeing pictures of babies and baby animals. I get enjoyment out of listening to some of my favorite music. I get enjoyment out of chocolate and peanut butter, not necessarily always in that order.

I get enjoyment out of blogging and writing and talking to all my online friends. And of course I get enjoyment spending time with my wife, since we have the same sense of humor.

Laughter really is great medicine; I hope everyone takes some many times a day.

Christian trust me, my intellect is one thing I don’t often underestimate; it’s others that underestimate it and that works in my favor a lot. :-)

I’ve never visited Mitch’s place but have seen him around. This was a great interview Christian and I might just have to pop over and check out his blog.

I love that he was open about what he enjoys most being here online. I also enjoy hearing from other successful people that it’s not just about throwing up a site with products to promote and the people will come. That’s so misleading and people get frustrated when they don’t see immediate results. Glad he pointed that out.

Thanks again for sharing this with us and I hope you have caught up since returning home. Glad you made it back safely!

Hey Christian,
Great to have you back. And here, I was concerned with the health thing. Obviously that is going well right now? Where are the pics of the trip? I need a little vicarious living until I get out there myself:)
Great interview with Mitch. I’ve read some of his comments but never stopped at his place. I will be stopping though, as you are one of my filters Christian. If you say it’s good, it must be:)
By the way Mitch,
My children and I play chess at a McDonalds (Indiana) with a group of older gentleman. One of them is Billy Shelton (the singer). He’s about 75 years young and still beats the tar out of me, the whole while telling his wonderful recollections of a life lived. Another gentleman is 91. He put 11 of his own children through college, and two adopted children. He also beats the tar out of us (with a smile!). Enjoy knowing you a little more.

Rob, I love playing chess, but it seems like there are people whose number I have and others I just can’t ever seem to beat. I’ll probably never win a chess tournament unfortunately, unless the money was high enough; I always seem to play better when there’s big money on the table. lol

Hey, great to hear from you! I had a rather interesting adventure getting home! I was out of town for a week. My lovely grandparents picked me up, told me I was coming, and took me to the coast for a week. You can see some photos on my flickr. On the little widget on the sidebar of my blog you’ll see a few of them.

Hope you and your family are doing well! I DID in fact receive the book. You are just TOO kind. I’m going to dive right in, and let you know how it goes! I’m singing tonight and then on the weekend I have an opera recital. I’ll see if I can find a few things regarding Sibyl that will give me some inspiration!

Keep an eye out on the blog, I should have some fun posts coming out shortly. I’ll be heading over to yours today or tomorrow to catch up on posts and comments!

Hi Mitch and Christian,

Nice interview. You seem that you market a lot ;) Do you optimize your pages Mitch, so they’re SEO friendly? Thanks guys

Dia, I do with some blogs but not all and I do with my websites. I have a finance website so everything has to do with financial issues. I also have a local blog so everything there is also optimized for my area. But my main blog, the one highlighted above, is more of a general blog so it’s not optimized as well throughout, though I do have some posts well optimized that, for certain search terms, those posts come up pretty high on search engines.

Nice interview Christian. i liked, “Who do you look up too” question. I agree with him, I like to learn from others, but look up to them no, because we all have our own talents.
As for happiness, will mine is simple. People and the little things in life are what matters to me and makes me feel very blessed.
thanks Mitch for sharing what you have learned in blogging. It is fun.
Blessing to you both,
Debbie
