I’ve done it.

I’ve struck gold.

I’m getting richer.

I now hold within my greedy palms the five secret steps to making a fortune online. This is not a joke. I’m being serious.

5 Secret Steps

Write these steps down. They’re extremely valuable. Share with only those whom you trust with your most precious secrets…

  1. Find a blogger, and donate a few dollars.
  2. Find another blogger and donate another few dollars.
  3. Repeat step one.
  4. Repeat step two.
  5. See step three.

*A blogger may be replaced with someone close to you, a stranger or helpless animal.

How It Works

Recently I’ve begun an experiment in generosity, increasing returns, law of attraction – call it what you will. There’s much online regarding any of said practices.

For the past few months, each month I find five bloggers. Either blogs I read often, or complete strangers. Some will already have a way to donate offered on their blog, but for those who don’t, I’ll tend to email them asking for their PayPal email. The perfect way to donate.

Once I’ve found my five bloggers – I donate. Not a large amount; just a few dollars of gratitude.

The Benefits

The benefits have been many as I’ve practiced this new form of generating a fortune online.

  • A large increase in search engine traffic
  • Increased profits online
  • More connections via blogs and Twitter
  • I feel good

The sole reason to donate to others shouldn’t be an increase in your online fortune, but it’s certainly a benefit.

I believe one of the greatest increases that’s occurred is a greater state of peace and connection with others in the blogging community. A small donation, in my mind, is a simple way to say thank you. A simple way to show gratitude. A great way to help offset the costs of another’s monetary burden.

My advice to you? Try it. It works.

That idea is seven kinds of brilliant. I don’t think I could have come up with it in a million years.

Thanks for sharing, Christian.

That is a truly unique idea, awesome that it would work! :-)

Will certainly check out your blog Jana. I love dogs. Have four of my own. Three huskies that I use for dog sledding, and a chihuahua. Thanks for sharing!

I plan on doing a follow-up in the next couple of weeks. Whether it continues to help grow traffic or bring in more revenue I will track; but what I do know now is that it certainly is a joy to give to others. It keeps me going, helps me feel alive, and a great way to want to be a better blogger!

I am a firm believer in “paying it forward” and I’ve seen it work in my own life. Thank you for stopping by my blog and for taking the time to leave a comment!

Interesting idea Christian, one which is the Law Of Attraction in full bloom! Just make sure to remind everyone that success won’t happen overnight, it can take time for the scales to start tipping in your favour.

As long as your heart is towards others, and you’re doing it without the specific intent of getting money back, I can see this approach working a lot :-)

You’re certainly correct there. It’s definitely not something that’s just going to happen overnight. It’s been at least a few weeks/months in the making, and I’m sure there’s not much of an end in sight.

Hi Christian,

I have enjoyed reading your comments on my blog so here I am. :)

Interesting post and I am pleased that you are experiencing the benefits of your impulse.

I agree with Stuart’s sentiments. I have been a student of the law of attraction for well over 10 years and as simple as it is, so it’s also subtly inaccessible till one is ready.

I will say that giving without expectation has always resulted in my receiving, perhaps not always in the same way but receive I have.

It seems there’s always something to be received. A monetary return is one of the lesser of all the things that ARE available and can be received into your life.

I think these thoughts were developed somewhat from learning about the law of attraction, and from reading Think and Grow Rich. There’s a theme in almost all literature, that brings us back to giving.

Seeing the post title on the home page, I clicked on it expecting it to be something that naturally exists on other sites related to blogging. But on reading the five steps, I was shocked and then after pausing for a few minuted, I have thought that you would now tell us not to follow the above five tips.I was even more surprised when you decided to stand on your words.

It is a very innoviative idea, may be the first of its kind.

Healthy relations with other bloggers are what help help a blogger sustain and be the unique one.

I would say that the money you have mentioned may be replaced by many other things. It might be the promise to read their blog regularly and appreciating with a comment, guest posting and a great deal of other things.

You are really creative in your thoughts.

Fantastic Ranjith! You’re on to something great here. There are definitely a lot of ways to thank, appreciate and be grateful for other bloggers. Even a simple note is something special. Just letting them know you enjoy their content, and that it’s making a difference in your life.

Seems reasonable and smart way to reach out. Not many people are going to do this, which will make way more deeper connections and motivate people to gain deeper insight into your work and thus attract readership. While this might not be expensive, it certainly can improve your visibility in new bloggers eyes.

He might be small today, but over time, those small bloggers may add up, leading you to greater exposure through their networks. It’s just a matter of investment. If you are poor, that doesn’t need to be money, but rather help in various different forms.

Thanks for idea Chris, you rock !

Thank you for taking the time to sit here for a bit Bojan. You’re recently right at the end there. If you’re lacking in monetary funds, it’s definitely an okay thing to contribute in other ways (e.g. comments, thank yous, etc..). There will be huge power behind those motions of gratitude as well.

Hi Christian, what comes up for me when reading this post is give what you want to get. It’s not about getting from that person but somehow it will come around via different means.

I like the idea of paying forward and it doesn’t necessary have to be monetary. It can be as simple as sharing another resource you have enjoyed with another person. It makes the world a better place!

Sharing good links, sending an email or telling another about a special tool are all great ways to share and pay it forward.

Give what you want to get. I love that thought too Diana.

Hi Christian

What a great blog and idea. I tend to give
more to charity blogs people I’ve connected
with and that are trying to make a difference
in the world or in children life’s.

@Nisha360 Clean Water: A Basic Human Right
I’ve have donated to this one. She is 20 years old
and has CP and is a wheel chair and learning to do
things on her own so she can live on her own. A amazing
young women. I would love to get her to her goal of $6,500
she is at $4,182. She writes a blog ever day about her life
and I keep seeing no luck on the clean water project with a
sad face. I keep trying to encourage her to keep the faith and
keep doing what she can.

The other one is @spreadingJOY and she does all kinds
of things to help out. Rite now she working on school supplies
and backpack for 500 kids. She does things for Christmas and
batter women shelters.

But these are the 2 I’ve supported and giving to by either money
or tweeting or telling any one i can about them.

I hope it was ok to post those here if not i’m sorry.

Thanks for a great post
