Using the Zodiac to find your Blogging Niche

Don’t you love horoscopes? Getting a little glimpse into the drama that is your life. Or are you brimming with ideas for your blog, but want to choose only a few topics to write about? Do you feel that your mind is full of cobwebs and you need a gentle shake to figure out what to write. Well read on for some astrological insight.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19): Are you selling a product or service? With your practically and logical business sense, I don’t see why not? If your current career isn’t working for you, start up another as a hobby until it pays. Create an online store front will help you reach into untapped markets and broaden your earning potential.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18): You like to research, playing around with gadgets, and (maybe) also be a gamer. I’m pretty sure you’re already online, making comments on forums and sites like Engadet. Why not make a blog on your favorite electronic items or game genre? Your tech/gamer/gadget blog can step outside the box of apple vs. PC, and make the most of it. Plus, once you gain authority, you may get to review items before they hit the shelves!

Pisces (February 19 - March 20): Ever the humanitarian, I see the Piscean writing stories and tucking them away to where they can’t be appreciated. Maybe you’ve posted ficlets on fiction sites and gotten great reviews. You may be in the process of writing your own book. Let your blog focus on that. Rather focus on the origins of things? A sociology themed blog is possible as well.

Aries (March 21 - April 19): You are very opinionated, whether you express it out loud or not is usually the problem. Why not create a gossip blog? Or just start critiquing everything until you find a topic you love to talk about. Hate how people dress, are the celebs giving you enough gas to fuel the water cooler discussion for hours? Does someone need to stay something about the barista that can’t get a simple coffee with cream order right? Let yourself be the one to say something. This can also work in the form of a personal blog.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Your love of beauty and material things really do help those of us who are fashion challenged. You could become an interior decorator if you want. So why not blog in the beauty/fashion/decor industry? You could post YouTube videos of tutorials and have a themed collection of photos to give inspiration to those that want to redecorate their homes according to the fashion season.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20): Being a confident communicator is your specialty. So it’s obvious that you can excel in any topic. But I’m betting your voice is your greatest asset. Why not create an online radio show through means of a podcast, and publish it onto your blog?

Cancer (June 21 - July 22): You’re a homebody. Don’t deny it. It’s your dream to work at home. Why not make a blog that resembles the lovely life you lead? Also, children somehow fits perfectly with what you’re into. Why not throw that into the mix? If you need a good example, try Googling housewife, parenting, and teaching blogs.

Leo (July 23 – August 22): Its all about you isn’t it? You can be a singer, model, actor, anything that has the spotlight on you. Let people know what you’re up to by using a blog as your portfolio or marketing system. Don’t have a current project? Turn yourself into one by having a personal blog about you! The perfect example is Xiaxue.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22): your seriousness takes you far. You have beliefs and make sure that everyone knows it. Why not incorporate your faith, passion, or charity into a blog that promotes your cause?

Libra (September 23 - October 22): My my, you charmer! I bet you can convince an Eskimo to buy ice can’t you? Why not create a product and use a blog to market and sell it? Don’t want to deal with products? Try Adverts. You can promote a product/service on your blog, and in return you get it for free. Still no? Use your sensitive and artistic flair to create a blog of photos (AKA Photography blogging) based around your favorite themes. It could be flowers, or a type of art work. A good blogging platform to start out on is tumblr. You can reblog most posts so you won’t have to keep creating new content and you can measure your popularity by how many times someone else reblogs your post.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21): Being a Scorpio myself I don’t like putting a lot of effort into a topic that will just die out quickly. So make sure whatever you choose to blog about (which is almost anything), you have your full attention on it and make it your child. If you want something more specific, try reviewing and critical thinking. Don’t like a politician? Say why! How could a product be better for the economy? lets us know! Want to show a difficult side to a simple topic? Do it!

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21): Anything to do with traveling and the international sense appeals to you. A travel blog will suit nicely to record your travels. Or just blogging about the different restaurants you attend will do as well. You can make almost anything marketable, so seek out some sponsorships along the way. It doesn’t hurt to make a little money while having fun.

One Final Note

You don’t have to stick to your Zodiac sign to find a topic. These are merely suggestions and guidelines that you can choose to follow. If you are still confused in the end, try personal blogging as a hobby until you can find your niche.
