How many promises have you made to yourself throughout your lifetime? You’ll learn piano. Circumnavigate the globe by plane. Get married.

The list has the potential to be endless.

Share a list of things you’d like to do in your lifetime here and on your blog. We’d like to see a few of your achievements as well.

I’ve kept this post short – So get out there and live your dreams!

The list of things I’d like to accomplish in my life seem to be endless. I’d like to be known as a good person, ultimately. Someone who touched many lives with goodness, kindness and joy. I want to live my life in a way – that I bring no regrets with me into the next life. I want to know in my heart that I deliberately chose my path – and made it better for myself and those that follow.

I forever hope to continue my love of music – through piano and vocals. Singing is what brings me happiness in times of doubt and discouragement.

I want to always find the time to appreciate the simple parts of life. The hugs I hold just a few seconds longer, the beauty of the roses & the joy of each breath. Our time here is short – and it better be fantastic.

It is my goal to be married and have children. To treat them with love and respect always. To treat ALL my family with love and respect – something I must work on each and everyday.

I hope to travel more. To pack up a bag – and visit many places of this grand earth. To learn the culture of the people, and enjoy what they’ve learned from life. I find this, too, through books. I love to read. Voraciously I consume books – as they help to transport me into the lives and minds of many. Many whom I want to emulate my life after.

All in all – I hope to be, exactly what I was meant to be. Christian. Full of life, love and laughter.

I really like your list, Christian. The question has different meanings, I believe, depending on one’s life experiences and one’s age. I’ve experienced much loss, including both parents and both brothers dying too young from heart disease ~~ dad, 58, mom, 62, Frank, 43, John, 34 ~~ I had quad bypass surgery when I was 48 — I think it is a miracle that I am still here at 62. I lost my 28 year old son 3 years ago . . .
Needless to say — I have a huge appreciation for life and for living every single day to its fullest. I don’t have the means to travel or live in a fancy house . . . but I have much to give when it comes to my time, my compassion, some wisdom I can share through it all . . .
So I would say that giving – whatever I have to give – would be great things to do for the rest of whatever time I have left.
Isn’t your question even more poignant after the horrific quake and tsunami that took place in Japan today?
Please, I would say to my younger friends, go for your dreams – live every day to it’s fullest.
Christian, I think your last line sums it up perfectly!

I appreciate the advice, wisdom and life experiences you’ve shared. I know it’s difficult sometimes for all of us to open up a bit – and make the internet a little more transparent. I really feel that’s where we learn though.

Giving is the essence of life – really. The reminder, I’m grateful for Donna.

I was awestruck this morning to find out what happened in Japan. It’s awful really, to see so much human life that has been snuffed out. It really shows me, and I think the world, the value of each person. The value of making each day fantastic, the best, the kindest. If we forget to be kind – then we’ve lost life.

Hi Christian,
just seen you tweeting this post out a second time! Would love to read more about your readers’ dreams. I have to say, I really admire Donna for her positive attitude, incredible woman, after all the losses in her life.

You have a great list of things and above all you want to make a difference. I am a believer in setting goals, what you put on your list will happen if you want it hard enough. Everything that you didn’t wasn’t such a strong wish then.
I have achieved everything in my short life that I wanted and it is important to set new goals. I’ve had two years of rest and recreation and am in the stage of redefining my life now. I wanted to speak at least one foreign language fluent (English: which I think I do, French: medium good, German: mother tongue), see all the continents and meet people from many countries and get to know their cultures. And I wanted a quick and fast-paced, exciting career (worked my way up to Exec Chef on 6 star cruise liners within 10 years)… Done!

What’s next? I settled, got married. We want kids, I want to have an impact on other people’s lives in a positive and long-lasting way. I still want to change the world and pass on my wisdom and give hope to others. I am a very lucky person, whatever I set my mind to, I achieve and maybe I can be an example to others that you can be whatever you wish for. Step number one would be to start dreaming and seeing the greatness in oneself -and then act on it!

Glad you tweeted this out again. You can be whatever you want to be, Christian and I think you do because you are smarter than many, you know what it needs to get to where you want to be (D R E A M B I G). Don’t ever let anyone tell you “you can’t”, you definitely can!

Fun to see this post again. I have a plugin that automatically tweets an older post from the blog once or twice a day; and it pulled this out it seems.

How fantastic to hear about your cooking experiences. That’s amazing. It sounds like you’ve really set out to accomplish; and done it with full heart and dreams. Thank you for making a difference, and for inspiring others!

And after reading your bio, I’m excited to see your bed and breakfast up here in Northern California nearby my home in the next few years!

Thanks for always responding (and for checking out my bio)! Can’t wait to move out there :) Time hasn’t come yet, there are many steps to take before that will happen..
With your positive and cheerful nature, you definitely make a difference in this world!

No problem Franziska. Life has a way of bringing us things one step at a time. Often there’s a hurdle to jump before you find yourself in your chosen paradise.

I have a really long list of things that I hope to achieve. I want to learn new languages, learn piano and violin, learn Egyptian hieroglyphics, commit myself to a regular exercise regime, round the world tour and so on. I must confess that my list grows much faster than I could strike things off. However, I think the list serves as a great motivation as to how much we can get out of just being alive. I think it’s a great thing to look at the list every now and then to keep us focused on the things that are important in life and not to get too caught up with the hustle and bustle of life.

I think too, sometimes you just hit rock bottom, and realize you aren’t accomplishing the goals on your list. And then, you knock one off!
