Blog Diagnostics: Check Your Blog For Problems

Recently I’ve had some interesting health setbacks. As of now I’ve been diagnosed with Lyme’s Disease and a few other issues.

It’s been a windy path. Gastroenterologists, Cardiologists and Immunologists. It sure would have been nice if they would have diagnosed me correctly in the first place. Oh well – life is life. icon wink Blog Diagnostics: Check Your Blog For Problems

This brings us to what I’d like to talk about today. Blog diagnostics.

There’s an importance in healing your blog well from the beginning – so that it has a long, prosperous life. When analyzing a patient, Doctors tend to go through a list of  “question checks.”

We’ll do the same.

Is my blog…

  • Eye friendly?
  • Are the colors balanced?
  • Secure and hacker safe?
  • Simple and easy to navigate?
  • A little slice of heaven?
  • Listed in the major search engines?
  • Backed up often?
  • A sweet mixture of humor and knowledge?

Do I…

  • Produce content daily?
  • Write with my own voice?
  • Comment on other blogs?
  • Maintain a social media presence?
  • Continually increase my skills?

How odd would it be if you went to the doctor’s with a broken foot – and he/she started asking you how your stomach felt? That would certainly upset me.

Be sure to diagnose your blog properly. Use the above lists to find areas which might need some tender-love-and-care. Pick the top three that are lacking and work from there.

The rest will fall into place.

In your checklist you mention “Is my blog Secure and hacker safe?” One way to help secure your blog from attacks is to use some of the better plugins like WP Firewall and don’t announce that you are running a WP blog by keeping the footer as the default.

The WP Firewall plugin is excellent. Your thoughts on keeping “under-the-radar” are great; I think many of us forget to simply stop advertising our bloggin platforms.
