“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” - Mark Twain

Amongst the mid-15,00’s – Nicolaus Copernicus brought a statement to the renaissance world that would chance the way we think – forever. The earth was in fact, not the center of the universe.

We’re oftentimes met with many so-called “facts” in our day to day dealings that never stand questioned. In our own lives we also do things one way, just because, and never seek to improve upon that facet.

The thought I’d like to bring up today comes from a question I’m asked routinely – week after week. What’s the best way to make money on the internet?

The answer: There’s no “one best way” to make money on the internet.

Making money on the internet roughly depends on the owner, the topic, the type of blog or website – and many other factors that are involved in monetizing internet traffic. The following are just some of the many ways individuals have found success in making money on the internet.

  • Domaining
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Direct Advertising
  • Website Flipping
  • Adsense
  • eCommerce
  • Twitter Monetization
  • Freelance Writing
  • Services

It’s important to remember that although one way works well for one – doesn’t mean it will work perfectly for you.

After the many years of working on the internet I’ve found that experimentation is key. For bloggers, there are gobs of opportunities & networks available in order to monetize a blog – yet it’s difficult to pinpoint which would be most successful without some degree of testing. Many have gone with the mainstream – only to find later that a completely different advertising method works much better in returning a profit.

The takeaway from these thoughts is that just because others are doing it – doesn’t mean you should too. You’ll be rewarded if you take the time to first research, test & experiment with any new form of online money making venture.

As a tribute to Copernicus – take the time to examine all aspects of your online experience. Question what you’ve always done. Analyze what others are doing. Discover new ideas & philosophies. With this frame of mind in practice, your road will only have one way to travel: up.

How do you make money on the internet?

  • Real money can be made by having your own website / blog. It takes a little time and effort but if correctly done correctly, you can make extra money even when you are off the computer. That is the best thing about the Internet
  • Last year I experimented with starting an eBay business to see if there was money to be made. While profit margins can be thin selling on eBay, there are over a million eBay businesses, so it is a viable option.
  • i really like the Mark Twain quote
  • There are many opportunities to make money online. Just because you hear of a friend using a particular strategy, it does not mean that strategy will definitely work just as well for you. There are a lot of factors determining if an online venture is successful. So if you are interested in making money online, take the time to fully explore the available options to determine what is the best fit for you.
  • Glad to see the post.I Found Making money online used to pretty much require you to have your own Web site, products to sell and some marketing savvy. But a new generation of dot-coms have arisen that will pay you for what you know and who you know without you having to be a web designer or a marketing genius.
  • I'm still testing and testing or you could say digging and digging until I found that gold mine.
  • You are right that internet is a vast place where many blogger making money by telling the peoples that how to make money. M i right?
  • I prefer Freelance Writing. Now, i am thinking about Adsense or other PayPerClick.
  • Hi,
Thanks for this nice succession to earn money online. There are a number of good site that pay you to fill out surveys and completeoffers. Check out my blog about it, with comparisons and links to the best ones. You can make around $100US/month in just 20mins a day, and none of the sites require you to pay Anything at all.
  • In my opinion the best way to make money online is by concentrating on one thing, and being great at that one thing that you do! Personally I like to create websites, and provide information for others, so that is what I do. I don't make that much money, but I know one day I will get there.

    Till then,

    Jean
  • I agree there is no best way to make money online. It all depends on your niche and the effort you put in as a website owner. One person may find a golden nugget here but that does not means the whole hill is made of golden rocks.
In my opinion, do what you love, provide value, test. The traffic and conversion will follow.
  • I think you have gave a reasonable answer otherwise every blogger say that making money on internet is very easy. They are making money by telling the people how to make money.
  • I have recently implemented Clickbank affiliate program in addition to my adsense. I'm not earning yet but I know it will take a little more time. In the meantime I focus on my content. :-)
  • Mark Twain, the United States' version of Oscar Wilde. Both are the sources of sure fire wit.
  • What is your number one way of making money online?
  • I had several blogs, but I never been really able to make money from any of them. Lately, I stick to one blog. Still no money made lol. My Google AdSense had increase since I begin to write articles on HubPages. For now, my only online source of income is Google AdSense. Ebay or Amazone haven't work for me so far. But I have to say, I didn't work hard enough on my articles and blogs to make money from them. For me, trying to make money online is a hobby, something I do after-work.
  • Hi Sunny,
your comment is really nice with have a good info.....
  • I agree that isn't necessarily a best way to make money online. It depends on your skills, ideas and vision. What works for one person might not be as effective for someone else. You need to get out there and try different strategies and see what works best for you.
  • Thanks, Mark Twain is one of my favorites too! :)
  • Love the Mark Twain quote, and thanks so much for the tips. There are so many ways to make money only, just got to keep trying.
