I use Thunderbird as my default email. I'm not a big fan of Microsoft Outlook or Express, I feel they are a little insecure for my taste. I don't know reallly, for me I just prefer Thundrbird over Microsoft its better to use and less dicking around on the setup. Thunderbird keeps a clean house, Mircosoft not so much.

Google is my secondary email app I use. Its easy and I have intergrated it with Thunderbird so it saves me a lot of time and yeah. Ymail is something I use for all my wanderings around the net to catch all my subscriptions.

I have mixed feelings about which one is best. For work, like Aaron said, there is no comparison Exchange with Blackberry Enterprise Server for mobile email. Hence, I find myself using Outlook quite a bit. It’s also nice because my Iphone can sync up with outlook as well and keep all my contacts, calendars and tasks organized. The integration with Powershell and outlook 2007 is a welcome addition. (Connecting via pop3, IMAP, or MAPI was always a pain in .NET applications)

As far as web based, I can’t give enough props to Gmail. Even though I find the general web interface slightly strange, it is awesome how easy it is to integrate into outlook, iGoogle, or any other email application. I used to use hotmail back in the day when it was new, but Gmail has surpassed them on almost every level.

I haven’t even heard of Thunderbird. I have just used Outlook for as long as I can remember. I guess I should take some time to compare the competition. Thanks for that.

I definitely use Thunderbird with my gmail account. IMAP is the best way to go hands down. I can get my email on my iPhone, with Thunderbird on my main computer, and with gmail.com anywhere away from home. No matter what… emails are categorized in folders, marked as “read” everywhere I look, and just generally very conveniently updated globally. Granted, it takes IMAP a little more time to download messages, it’s worth the few extra seconds!

I’ve been using thunderbird for a good couple of years now but I (finally) bought office 2007 (ultimate) the other day and just like the slick look of outlook.

the only annoyance is that there is no easy way to import my stuff from thunderbird to outlook so I am manually doing it now. basically, i just got a bit sick of thunderbird. I may go back to it, who knows?

For personal e-mail I use hotmail just because it is what I have used since I was younger. I do realize that gmail seems to be a better web based e-mail system. For my business e-mails I always use Outlook.

I use Thunderbird and gmail and really love both of them. I also use Yahoo just for family stuff. I don’t like it as much, but I have been using it so long it’s hard to change. I mostly use linux (Ubuntu 9.4) now, so I don’t use any Microsoft products (just IE for checking websites.)

My primary e-mail is on Outlook. This is primarily because we have an Exchange Server connected to BlackBerry Enterprise Server and there is simply no better mobile e-mail solution on the planet.

That being said, I use Google Apps for all of my other e-mail addresses. The search is better, the speed is better. I’d consider it for everything, but the BlackBerry integration isn’t as good, and it also can’t handle dragging and dropping files into messages, or messages into tasks (the last thing being something I do CONSTANTLY to keep a clean inbox).
