There are many factors that affect search engine rankings, but links are by far the most important. In time, good content gets good rankings on its own too, but only if it has built up some links somewhere. If you spend time marketing your blog you will get rankings that much quicker. Don't obsess over the toolbar number though, worry more about regularly getting new links. If you keep at it, it snowballs into good rankings and a lot of traffic. I have to disagree with you Omar.
