During the months of April and May, homes across the world participate in the ritual of Spring Cleaning. The chaos of painting, building, vaccumming, throwing out & washing – immediately ensues. I’m of the opinion that blog owners should do the same with their “homes” on the net.

This spring I’m implementing two major modifications of SmartBoyDesigns.com. I’m Buildling My Blogroll & activating DoFollow for comments.

Building My Blogroll

Blogrolls are an excellent way for bloggers to connect and share readers. Some of the best blogs I’ve found have been through browsing Blogrolls.

In order to “jump start” my Blogroll – I’m rewarding blog comments. Add a comment to this post – and you’ll be rewarded with a link to your SEO/Blog/Design related blog in my Blogroll.

Rewarding Blog Comments – DoFollow

Many blogs horde links like squirrels protecting acorns before a heavy winter. I personally feel that individuals who take the time to comment should be rewarded with a juicy, visitor rich link to their site/blog. As of today, DoFollow has been enabled on Smart Boy Designs – allowing search engines to follow comment links.

I will say though that spamming will not be taken lightly. Please don’t spam your link throughout the comment body – your comment will be deleted.

The Cleaning Continues

I’ll be honest. I’m a clean freak. I like my home and blog to be clean and orderly. Take the time this spring to include a few new features on your blog – or spruce up the features you already have implemented. Trust me – your readers will appreciate the extra effort.

Don’t forget to add a comment with a link to your SEO/Blog/Design related blog – as I’ll be adding these to my Blogroll!

Great work starting the spring clean anyway

It would be great if you could include my Blog “Inspiring News from around the World” in your Blogroll.

One related tip to ‘cleaning’ is to have redirect links in place of pure affiliate links in case when the merchants switch their affiliate programs or the product is no longer sold (thus have to replace with another link), your redirect links remain consistent to the readers (a.k.a. prospects).

Love it! The spring cleaning here (in the house) is easier – last child moved out and we are done with the dog drama. As for the blog, I just met with an SEO gal who is trying to teach me a thing or two for traffic. Hope whatever each of us do, it’s all good! :)

Thanks so much Christian, this is a great idea. Getting it out there that I check your blog is probably going to lend mine some credibility too. I’ll add yours to my blog roll too.

Yea it seems like offering dofollow links is a great way to get more comments… Just make sure to check them… kinda makes a nice target for spam bots

It’s nice to see that some bloggers are finally sharing. Lots of people cry out for comments, and then don’t give anything back to the community.

I’m also doing the same with my new blog @ jlk.me mixed with an extreme web spring clean getting rid old domains and dumping some sites all together. Keep up with a great blog.

If you have any soap leftover, can you spare a little for my grandson? He’s a mud freak as opposed to a clean freak!

Enjoyed your blog!

I may not make it on your blogroll, but I wanted to come by and thank you for the follow in Blog Catalog. I try to clean up my blogs now and then too. And not only in the spring. Have you thought about using CommentLuv also? I’m not an affiliate or anything, I just mentioned it because I use it and it works very well as some linky love too.

Hi Christian, thank you for favoriting my blog on Blogcatalog. What a nice surprise. I need a good spring cleaning. How did you get that picture of my living room? ;)

I agree about the juicy links. Thanks for stopping by my blog and I hope you enjoyed your medium well done link! Let me know if you would like a blogroll sandwich!
I try to click on all visitors who show up on the blog catalog widget. You find mostly quality and interesting subjects. And it’s a good exercise to help avoid too much introversion.
Enjoy the wonderful weather. I bet it’s as nice in N Cal as it is here in Virginia (or almost).

I really like your attitude, there should be more “do-follow” blogs in the world. Life is not about getting more through taking away from others, but about sharing, which will benefit more people in the end!

That is a pretty interesting idea, definitely if the design is not a passion there is not success to get.
