As bloggers we sometimes hide ourselves in the cloak of cyberspace. Branding & communication solely through online methods has become so simple, that we sometimes forget to take part in marketing techniques developed away from the computer.
There are many “real world” opportunities that await us when promoting our blogs and developing lasting friendships & connections. Look at the following list for ideas on how to bring your blog into your community, niche, and worldwide market.
- Sponsorships - Supporting events is an excellent way to become recognized and respected. Offer samples of your products, or discounts for your services. Sponsoring will get your name into the public, and draw more attention towards your services and resources.
- Business Cards & Brochures – Although our world has quickly become digitized, I still feel it’s important to carry branded business cards and/or marketing material. In my own life, I often times will get questioned regarding my websites – and offering a business cards is an easy way to send them to my sites. Let your natural interactions with others become fruitful.
- Press Releases – When your blog has launched or you’ve developed a new blog feature or resource, send a press release to your local papers and news sources. Many cities will become interested in what you’re doing, and are more than happy to share the news of the local “crazy” web guru.
- Vehicle Branding - If you’re like me, you spend ample time driving. Decal the back of your car with an intriguing slogan, or a simple URL. Let your car become a moving billboard.
- Seminars & Conventions - I feel one of the best ways to become recognized in your blog’s community is getting out and enjoying time with others. Attend conferences, seminars, conventions, activities, and events. Some of my best connections and friendships in my blogging niches have come from meeting individuals at events and camps.
Balancing your marketing efforts between digital and physical methods is sometimes a tedious task. In many cases, advertising and promoting your blog can be just as easily met through the use of online advertising outlets and opportunities.
What’s important to remember is that real world opportunities and marketing techniques should not be overlooked. It’s possible to maintain branding in both aspects, and leverage the power of each into a well organized, far-reaching marketing approach.

Interesting.
I never thought of marketing my blog. With FreeBeingFree, I just wanted to share my thoughts with whoever bothered to find the blog. Now that I have a blog with links and such, I kind of recognize the need to spread the word that it’s there.
I think I like the idea of business cards the best.
