Months ago I embarked on a quest to find the perfect forum software. A platform simple & fast – matching the superb usability of a WordPress blog. Nothing fit the bill. phpBB wasn’t right, and vBulletin was bloated.
Ultimately, I met bbPress. The forum of simplistic bliss. (Not to mention it’s Open-Source and free!)
Here are some reasons why I chose bbPress in leiu of other forum software.
- Ease of Use & Simplicity – First and foremost, it’s forum software. It has one job, and it does it well. The simplicity of its code is reminiscent of the all powerful WordPress, which allows for fast uploads and easy navigation. Plugins and Themes can be implemented exactly like WordPress – which makes me giggle with delight.
- WordPress Integration - With just a few Plugins, bbPress can become easily integrated with an installation of WordPress. - Customization – As mentioned previously, Plugins and Themes can be dropped into your bbPress installation and installed with the click of a button. Themes are also easily created and customized in order to match your blog’s theme. The possibilities are endless with this forum platform, and it makes for a buffett like menu of wonderful choices.
I took a chance on bbPress, and hopefully, you will too. The forum is a snap to manage, and an excellent tool in communicating with clients and readers. Not only are forums a useful tool, but installing a blog forum will help to promote a community vibe & feel for your blog.
