Great method to get a little higher in the ranks when you don’t feel like writing new articles. Even i use it from time to time, plus it feels nice going over old articles, i can see how/if i evolved my writing skills in the meantime.

My first blog was a blog hosted by Blogspot. Simple, generic design. If you’re first starting a blog – I’d suggest using WordPress, and getting a nice template. If you can’t afford a custom or premium template – there are thousands of free, beautiful templates available to choose from.

Pick a great theme, produce great content – and your blog will be on a great path for success. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Feel free to post to the forums.

Hi Ric. Thank you for your compliments. Glad you enjoy the design/layout of the blog. As for your questions…

1. For a blog’s layout, the entire design needs to stay consistent. Meaning, the same colors, fonts, and graphic styles need to be maintained on both the header image, styles, etc…Maintaining a consistent feel will make your blog look classier and more appealing to your viewers. Don’t use every color in the rainbow – and every font offered by HTML.

2. I would suggest comments as being one of the best ways to engage your readers. This has also been true for myself amongst other blogs as well, and proves to be a valuable tool. If you’re writing good content and making it easy to comment (e.g. no registration required, simple form) – readers will have no problem sharing their thoughts via commenting.

I like the flow of your site. I have 2 questions.

1. If you know you have 5 sec to capture a visitors attention, would you say it is the header, colors etc. that is a priority?

2. What have you found to be the better tool of engagement for a visitor – comment box, twitter, tag clouds, etc.
