My article is competing for the time of the reader and if the reader feels that her time is being wasted, she will not stay; or worse, never visit. And yes, 1 second on a title and I have decided whether I will read it or not. I've been writing much more straight forward and to the point titles. Putting in a few keywords in your title isn't just an SEO thing, it helps the reader know what you'll be talking about.
